THE PROJECT

Smart Community of the Ionian-Silan Lands

The project was created to build a shared community identity for the internal area of the Ionian-Silan Lands through the development of a web application capable of providing digitized services to support tourism and promote the territory. The Municipality of Santa Severina leads the Associated IT Service (SIA) of the internal area Sila and Presila Crotonese and Cosentina under the framework of the National Strategy for Internal Areas (SNAI). Intervention sheet A.2.1.B: “Qualification and expansion of E-Government and Smart Community services for the municipalities included in the APQ of the strategy for the internal area Sila and Presila Crotonese and Cosentina.”

THE TERRITORY

Enhancement of inland areas

The Ionian-Silan Lands extend between the Sibari plain and the Nicà river, on the border between the provinces of Cosenza and Crotone. They represent one of the most distinctive and evocative areas of southern Italy thanks to their inland extension, where the Sila plateau stretches toward the Ionian Sea. The territory features a heterogeneous morphology that includes plateaus, hills and mountainous zones, descending gradually toward the coastal area washed by the Ionian Sea.
